Our textured SANJURO surface treatment is entirely hand-finished using an innovative technique mastered through tireless iterations and experimentation. The name is a hat-tip to Tsubaki Sanjuro, the masterful and honorable samurai-recluse from the Akira Kurosawa masterpiece. But foremost this intricate application, imbued with roughness and refinement at once, is a nod to our admiration for the Japanese Shibusa aesthetic, a concept which sees value in irregular perfection. The handexecuted marks are like fingerprints—no two pairs have the same pattern—and add a one-off, noticeably handmade kind of richness and personality to the frames. Both before and after the detailed production process, hours upon hours are spent hand polishing the frames to a distinctive matte finish that becomes an integral signature of the SANJURO treatment.
